Voting For Kinky?
"Why the hell not?" Kinky Friedman, as you may have heard by now, is running for Governor of our great state of Texas. The thing I like about Kinky is that he says exactly what he thinks and does what he wants. He's laid it all out on the table from the get-go so I doubt there are any skeletons in his closet. As some of you may know I live just a few miles up the road from the Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch. I sometimes see Kinky around town and he's definitely a character. From now up until the election I am going to be doing some posts about Kinky's vision for Texas. For now, you can watch his new campaign commercial which was shot at the Utopia Ranch.
I'm just really trying to move away from this whole "conservative" vs. "liberal" thing. I'm sick of the Republicans and I'm tired of the wishy-washy Dems. I'm sick of career politicians. I think we need someone from outside the whole system, someone who is not "politically correct". We need someone to say what is REALLY on their mind so we can have a real debate in this country/state and stop skirting the issues. If someone is willing to work with the immigrants as well as the minutemen (check further down in this blog to see how I feel about the minuteman) then I see that as a positive step forward. Government should be about working with EVERYONE to find a compromise we can all live with, not about DIVIDING people among party lines or ideologies.
If nothing else, Kinky will get attention and will bring attention to the issues we're facing today...issues that bland Rick Perry only pays lip service to at election time. I can see Kinky being a little controversial but I think the state and the country needs that. Someone needs to shake this shit up.
If Kinky were a conservative I think he'd still be running as a Republican. Most thinking people aren't just strictly one way or the other. Most of us fall somewhere in the middle. I doubt Kinky is a true liberal but I also doubt he's the type of guy who would stick his head up the ass of creeps like Cheney, Rove, Bush and Rumsfeld. I think he'll stand up to them more than anything.
